“Raccontare la camorra nel nuovo millennio”
La paranza dei bambini and Bacio feroce by Roberto Saviano

After the exceptional success of Gomorra, Saviano puts aside the model of the non-fiction novel to tell Naples with two novels that must be read as a unicum. It does so by renewing a great verist tradition in which almost forgotten masters stood out, such as Francesco Mastriani, Matilde Serao and Ferdinando Russo. The camorra of the very young, with its pseudomites, rituals and jargon is returned by drawing on reality and judicial documents, but literature is assumed taking the point of view of the characters, without complacency or moralism, and breaks through the two-dimensionality of journalistic news.

Francesco Palmieri was born in Naples and lives in Rome. A professional journalist since 1988, he was a “black” chronicler at the Giornale di Napoli and at Paese Sera. In 1987 he was awarded Il Premiolino. He is currently deputy editor-in-chief of the Agi (Agenzia Giornalistica Italia) with oversight of international projects. He has published several non-fiction and fiction books including Sole, Luna and Talia. Magic and mysteries in Naples (1984); Dangerous lives. Men and ghosts of martial arts (2009); and with Mondadori The Neapolitan book of the dead (2012); La Camorrista (2013) and lastly Little Dragon. The life of Bruce Lee (2017). His stories have been published by the magazine Nuovi Argomenti.
