Giuliana Minghelli and Eugenio Bolongaro will introduce the film Il Gattopardo, by Luchino Visconti. With Il Gattopardo opens the most inconsistent and problematic period Viscontian, undoubtedly regressive compared to what goes from Ossessione to Rocco, although always full of cultural and aesthetic results of great level and however deeply connected with the first period of its production.

Giuliana Minghelli studied German and English literature at the University of Pisa. From Italy she transferred to the Johns Hopkins University where she received the MA and the PhD in Italian Studies. Before arriving at McGill, she taught at the University of Wisconsin Madison, the University of Colorado Boulder and Harvard University. Presently, she is Associate Professor in LLC with a specialization in Italian and European cinema and culture.
Eugenio Bolongaro, professor of Italian Studies at McGill University and currently Director of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. Italian literature and cinema from Post-WWII to our times are the main areas of study and research, enriched by extensive scientific activity.
