Giovanni De Luca (saxophone) and Francesco Silvestri (piano) will offer a musical journey where the spectator can appreciate the most distinguished trends, from folklore to jazz, from neo-Romanticism to minimalism, from film music to descriptive music.
The TWO for NEW project aims to explore and develop new relationships between the saxophone and the piano. In 2011, Giovanni De Luca and Francesco Silvestri began working together to achieve this intention. The duo offers a musical journey where the spectator can enjoy the most distinguished trends, ranging from folklore to jazz, from neo-Romanticism to minimalism, from film music to descriptive music. Both performers have helped to stimulate the creativity of many contemporary composers, Italian and non-Italian alike.

Giovanni De Luca, saxophonist, under the direction of Paul Trampetti, graduated – with honours – from the Conservatorio Stanislao Giacomantonio in Cosenza, his hometown. He then studied with prestigious masters including Mario Marzi, Claude Delangle and Fabrice Moretti. Winner of various national and international competitions, he has given numerous concerts as soloist, duo with piano, duo with accordion and with a saxophone quartet. Alternating concerts and teaching, he is a teacher in the public schools of his region, in Italy. Among his most recent activities is the recording of a CD in collaboration with accordionist Tommaso Arena, entirely dedicated to Richard Galliano (Tribute to Galliano).

Francesco Silvestri, pianist born in Vibo Valentia, studied at the music conservatories of Vibo Valentia, Reggio Calabria, Rome and Brescia. A graduate with honours in piano and harpsichord, chamber music and music education, his prestigious guides include Maestro Vicenzo Balzani. He has also taught at the conservatories of Trieste, Rovigo and Trapani. He took part in numerous national and international competitions: in 1999 he won that of the FMCIM (World Federation of International Music Competitions in Geneva). He was also heard at the Johannes Brahms International Festival in Poertschach, Austria, and at the Città di Caltanissetta Award. His concerts have taken him to many countries including Germany, Switzerland, France, Romania, Spain, Portugal and Australia. He was invited by various renowned institutions including the Teatro Lingotto of Turin, the Ducal Academy of Geneva, the Conservatorio Tartini of Trieste, the Art University of Berlin, the Cultural Institute of Carpentras and the El Musical Theatre of Valencia.
