Recanati celebrates the bicentenary of

2019 will be a special year for the city of Recanati, in the province of Macerata. In fact, the bicentenary of the writing of "The Infinite" by Giacomo Leopardi will be celebrated. For a year, thanks to the Infinito Leopardi project, there will be plenty of shows, exhibitions, conferences and publications focused on "Leopardian thought".

The MAECI, represented by the Secretary General Amb. Elisabetta Belloni, together with diplomats Councilors of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, are part of the Honorary Committee for the bicentenary of "The Infinito" by Giacomo Leopardi (written in 1819 and published in 1825).

The Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal, on the occasion of the bicentenary of the writing of "The Infinite" by Giacomo Leopardi, presented the conference of Prof. Paola Italia entitled "Behind a Literary Masterpiece of Italian Literature: Two Hundred Years of Leopardi’s Infinito".

Count Giacomo Leopardi (baptized Giacomo Taldegardo Francesco di Sales Saverio Pietro Leopardi; Recanati, June 29, 1798 - Naples, June 14, 1837) was an Italian poet, philosopher, writer, philologist and glottologist.
